First of all, I think you sound a bit too young to start stretching. If your mom isn't on board with this, you're going to be sneaking around and pick up bad habits for your ears. Ear stretching should be thought of as permanent because you never know which size will be the point of no return for your body. I hate to sound old, but a 14 year old isn't prepared for the consequences that come with a permanent body modification.
That said, you're young and will probably do it anyway. My advice is if you do stretch, go slow. You don't want to end up with blow outs or torn lobes that require surgery. Wait double the amount of time you think you need to wait between stretches. I let my ears wait long enough between each stretch, that I don't have any pain or discomfort what so ever when going to the next biggest size.

yeah one tip: please dont try to do them yourself! at least have someone u know (like a friend) to help you!
paying a pro is pretty dumb? geez. you are asking idiots. i know soooo much more about the pros and cons, the safety concerns and everything else involved. i use professioanl equipment to ensure safety. i use sterile jewelry, and the proper jewelry, to reduce the risk of infection and other traumas. and i know when to stop and when to keep going.
experience is invaluable. but that kid is too young and dumb to appreciate that.
piss off (not the asker, btw) you waited a week. what a moron. 2-3 months between stretches. unless you want blowout. or at least more pain and suffering than necessary
Just get tapers. Tapers make it pretty painless.
As in how to convince, thats tough. You could just say your only going to stretch to a small size then just keep going.
Stretching them yourself is pretty much the only way to go. Paying a professional is pretty dumb, cause it's easier and quicker to do it yourself.
When I stretched my ears, I just bought a taper in the next size up (they sell them pretty cheap at Hot Topic) and waited until I got in the shower, soaped it up, and pushed it slowly in my ear until it was all the way through. Don't forget the O-rings or it'll slip out. If you feel too much pain or any ripping, then stop immediately and put the O-ring on until it heals and you can push it in more.
Most people recommend you wait a month before going up a size, but I only waited about a week, it has to do with you. Just take your time and make sure you're pretty healed before you do.
I think 0 is the best size to go to, cause it's not that big and you can get some pretty cute plugs for it, but it's up to you how big you go.
