The best tip I can give you is to subscribe to the Internet Retailer magazine -- this is a magazine dedicated to ecommerce, and you will find loads of tips, case studies and success stories on how to sell online.
The magazine is available for paid subscription, but if you qualify they can send it to you for free (I get it for free)

I would suggest Commission Junction. You can become an affiliate to any of their thousands of companies, and get paid whenever you sell something. It saves you from having to carry an inventory, handle billing, or deal with customers. The companies you select to represent do all of that for you, and they pay Commission Junction, who then pays you monthly. I've been with Commission Junction for years. It's free to join, and it's easy.
